Chu-Tse Wu, the academician of the Chinese academy of sciences, a doctoral tutor, successively served as the director of the key laboratory of military hematology, vice President and President of the Chinese academy of military medical sciences. He has been working on stem cells research for years, known as the "father of Chinese stem cells".
 
He has won the second prize of national natural science award, the first prize of national science and technology progress award and more than 10 other awards. He has served as the first Chinese director of international radiation research association, the director of experimental hematology professional committee of Chinese society of pathophysiology, the standing director of Chinese medical association and other academic positions. 
 
In 1999, he was awarded the "major professional and technical contribution award" by the central military commission. In 2000, he was awarded the "generation famous teacher" by the general logistics department. On November 30, 2015, approved by the international asteroid naming committee, the asteroid 207809 discovered by the purple mountain observatory of the Chinese academy of sciences was named "Wu Chu-Tse star".
